Short about me

I come from Jastrzębie-Zdrój in Silesia, and currently I live in Wrocław. I am an automation and robotics engineer by education, which I obtained at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. I currently work as an automation engineer at Nestle Purina. My additional activity is creating websites for small and medium-sized companies and individual clients. In my free time, I use the gym or swimming pool and expand my qualifications.

More about me

I am 25 years old and I was born in Wodzisław Śląski, but I have lived in Jastrzębie-Zdrój since I was born. I had the pleasure of living both in a single-family house with its own plot and garden, and in blocks of flats – I don’t know what I prefer, both solutions have pros and cons. I believe that one of the most important things in life is balance, which is why I think that the best solution is to live in a block of flats, which gives comfort and less responsibilities in everyday life, and to have an allotment garden – a piece of land just for yourself, or possibly a solution offered by a housing estate where I currently live – an apartment in a block on the ground floor with its own garden.

I was very energetic since I was a child. Spending time outside from morning to evening with a ball, homemade bows or playing hide and seek was the norm for me, regardless of the season or the weather. During primary school, I joined a judo club in KOKA Jastrzębie. I trained this sport for 3 years and generally remember that time well, but from the first year of middle school I started training volleyball at the Talent Academy of Jastrzębski Węgiel. I fell in love with this sport and to this day I still have a certain sentiment. To tell the truth, I dreamed of being a professional volleyball player, but before choosing high school I honestly told myself that I was probably not good enough to “make a living from volleyball” in the future, so I decided to go to a general high school, and because math has always been “my horse”, I chose a mathematical and language profile. I spent the first year of high school mainly on … let’s call it, youth lifestyle ;). However, being addicted to my parents’ money soon became irritating to me, so from the second year of high school, I found various odd jobs and started tutoring in mathematics, and when I turned 18 and got my driving license, I spent more time delivering pizza than at school ;). More or less at the beginning of the third grade, I decided that when I finished high school, I would go to the Silesian University of Technology (SUT) and study Automation and Robotics (A&R). At the time, I had no idea what I was signing up for. In order to get into my dream field, 2 months before my final exams, I decided… to stop going to school and leave my job to prepare myself for my final exams as best as possible. I think that during these 2 months I learned a lot more than during the remaining 2.5 years of high school, proving at the same time that the matura exam is really nonsense, because by reading only summaries of a few of the most important books, I achieved 80% of Polish, of which I was even more satisfied than with 98% of math ;).

After the first stage of recruitment to the university, it turned out that getting into AiR at the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science (AEC) was not as difficult as I thought so far. Besides, I didn’t know then that it’s much easier to get there than to keep it later ;). Yes, while the first semester went well, without major turmoil (I was learning much more and more systematically than ever before), in the second semester I experienced a severe shock when it comes to the difficulty of these studies. Today, I think that these are the most difficult technical studies that are available at the SUT. At least at the AEC faculty, because A&R at another faculty is a completely different A&R. Every six months, I was thinking about giving up on these studies, but here I think that my sportsman’s soul did not let me give up and despite the fact that it was a very hard 3.5 years, I managed to obtain the title of engineer. My engineering thesis was “MQTT protocol support in TIA Portal”. I must admit that I was a bit late with the choice of my thesis supervisor, but luckily I managed to get under the wing of dr hab. Eng. Tomasz Kłopot, who proposed just such a topic. I agreed to it, even though at the time of the decision, I only knew what the TIA Portal and the MQTT protocol were from a few sentences on Wikipedia. As I delved into the subject, I liked it more and more and I think that I wrote a really nice engineering thesis, rated 5 in the first attempt at submission. From a colleague who had the same supervisor, I even learned that Dr. Kłopot told him that an engineering thesis should be written just like mine. The project itself was quite extensive, because it included a program on the S7-1500 controller, a phone application, a website, an application in Node-RED and a computer application. All these devices and programs communicated with each other using the MQTT protocol, which resulted, for example, in the fact that it was possible to wirelessly control the process performed in the PLC using the application on the phone, and the visualization of this process was displayed on the website in real time. I was really happy with my job.

On the other hand, going back a bit to the first year of studies, I was immediately bothered by the fact that they were very theoretical, which was at odds with my way of acquiring knowledge, because I learn best and most willingly through practice, not by cramming and understanding theory. That is why after the first year I decided to look for an apprenticeship or an internship in a company dealing with automation. I wanted it especially because my high school was a high school and I felt that I had some shortcomings compared to my colleagues who were graduates of mechatronics or electrical technical school. Besides, as usual, I wanted to earn some money of my own. This is how I found the first company in the automation industry – Progres Automatyka. At the beginning, I had a paid internship there as an electrician, which broadened my knowledge in this industry anyway, but it was at odds with my ambition, which made me apply for a future promotion to the position of an automation engineer. Here, for the second time, let me stick a pin in the education system in our country – really 90% of the current knowledge in automation I have from work and trainings bought on my own, and what I learned in college and is useful is MAYBE 10%.

After the turmoil of the COVID-19 pandemic, during which I was unable to complete an internship and obtain an engineering degree, Progres offered me to return, this time full-time, to the position of an automation-electrician. I learned a lot there, although more about electricity, diagnosing and solving electrical faults, than programming PLC controllers, which was what I cared about the most, but I don’t consider that time wasted. Being an automation engineer in itself requires you to have very broad knowledge – from mechanics, through electricity to programming, so you have to learn and expand your knowledge constantly. Subconscious that in another company I could develop more in the intended direction, I started sending my CV to companies that were looking for an employee directly for the position of PLC programmer, and that’s how I ended up at ProPoint. I worked in this company for about 1.5 years, during which I learned a bit about programming PLC controllers and at the same time visited some of the world, but the frequent trips started to bother me and I decided to look for a new job again, this time stationary. This is how I found myself at Nestle Purina as an automation engineer. Thanks to this job, I have a lot of time for personal development, which is why I decided to also create websites, which was also one of my ideas for myself during my studies. The page you are currently on is the first of them. I wanted to put into practice what I learned during the website development course before taking up my first order.
